Sandy Springs, incorporated in 2005 as a city in northern Fulton County, Georgia is the state’s sixth largest city (just after Athens) and is the site of several large US corporate headquarters. So close to “the city” yet three National Park Sites within Sandy Springs provide opportunities for picnicking, fishing, hiking and wildlife viewing all year-round (the city boasts 950 acres of parks and natural areas).

Fun Fact
Every summer, Sandy Springs residents get the opportunity to participate in the “Take it to the River” Lantern Parade. It’s a walk where residents pay tribute to the iconic Chattahoochee River, by carrying brightly-colored and lighted globes, parasols, hats and whimsical creatures.
